Rock Taping at Clayton Chiropractic
You may be familiar with the idea of athletes taping their injuries so they can return to their game of choice, but modern medical taping goes far beyond that application. If you're struggling with musculoskeletal pain, inflammation, swelling, or weakness, you may want to follow the lead of those athletes you see wearing colorful strips of tape in unusual patterns. Here at Clayton chiropractic, we can administer healing, soothing Rock Taping to help support your recovery from injury or manage a chronic pain condition.
What Is Rock Taping?
Rock Taping makes use of a state-of-the-art athletic tape known as Rock Tape. The initial tape and techniques used in Kinesio taping were created by a chiropractor, Dr. Kenzo Kase, back in the 1970s. The tape is designed to convey a gentle pulling action on the skin, which enhances blood circulation and fluid drainage. The extra support it provides can even help prevent injury to healthy tissues and help the musculoskeletal system function more efficiently. At the same time, the tape is flexible enough to permit full range of motion, while the adhesive used can provide several days of service per taping.
Rock Tape has an advantage over other types of Kinesio tape in that it's designed specifically for endurance athletes, but you don't have to be a runner, swimmer, or marathoner to benefit from it. This technique can help you cope with such diverse conditions as:
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Plantar fasciitis
- Chronic or acute strains and sprains
- Knee, neck, shoulder, or ankle inflammation
- Herniated discs, whiplash, and other spinal injuries
- Post-surgical swelling and pain
- Tennis or golfer's elbow
A Healthy Part of Your Chiropractic Care and Rehabilitation Plan
Our Clayton chiropractor, Dr. Lloyd, takes a holistic view toward healing, meaning that he employs a number of healing techniques in combination to address your "whole body" health and wellness. Rock Taping can play an integral role in supporting chiropractic care methods such as manual or instrument-based spinal adjustments or extremity adjustments. It can also help you get the most out of corrective exercises and other forms of injury rehabilitation or physical therapy. These combined treatment methods give your body the best possible chance to heal itself the natural way, without drugs or surgery, and to keep itself in prime condition going forward.
